Now Endgame is out and has such huge success, we have to look to the future and ask what is next for the MCU. We’re talking phase 4 and beyond, looking at upcoming (almost) definite releases and seeing how they will culminate into the new Avengers line up. Endgame Spoilers Ahead!
Spider-Man: Far From Home
The only actual confirmed title on this list is the Spider-Man sequel which is released in July this year. This will see the continuation of the Spider-Man story, is going to introduce multiple dimensions/universes and hopefully, build up to the Sinister Six. Spider-Man is going to be one of the main players in phase four and I suspect that we are going to see him more than once in this phase
Black Widow
The Black Widow film is all but confirmed, with casting and a reported production date of late 2019. Now, considering Black Widow’s fate in Endgame, it is pretty safe to assume that this film is going to be a prequel, most likely pre-Iron Man 2 era, seeing Nat being a Russian spy and being recruited by SHIELD I imagine. This probably isn’t going to have a huge impact upon phase 4 and it’s big villain.
Black Panther 2
The Black Panther sequel is incredibly likely in phase 4, and director Ryan Coogler is reportedly returning to bring us the sequel. It will be great to see how Wakanda has changed since the Snap and the 5 years it hasn’t had a king. If they go the way of the comics, we could see the Fantastic Four being introduced in this film, as Black Panther was introuduced in Fantastic Four originally, so it would be good to reverse this.
Doctor Strange 2
It is highly likely that we will see a sequel to Doctor Strange as he has proved to be a very important character in the films and is proving to be an incredibly powerful character in this universe. Mordo is still a threat in the universe, picking off sorcerers left right and centre. It would be great to see this more experienced Doctor Strange dealing with the magical threats.
There are ofcourse other films I imagine will definitely be in phase 4 and beyond, including Ant Man 3, Thor 4, Guardians 3 and Captain Marvel 2.
